What is Family PLUS?

What: Family PLUS is a program that is designed to bring families together through a variety of fun and exciting activities and events!

When: Every Other Friday starting at 6pm

Where: Boys & Girls Clubs of Albany: 21 Delaware Ave Albany, NY 12210

**AND OPEN TO THE COMMUNITY!**

 Family PLUS Model

The model has five key components:

Kinship care programming provides knowledge and resources to extended family members (grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc.) who have assumed the primary caregiver role.

Father involvement programming that helps fathers take a more active, positive role in their children’s lives.

Outreach, recruitment and retention activities help Clubs engage and integrate parents, other family members and children into Club life.

Family Advocacy Network (FAN) Club, for parents and caregivers of Club members participating in SMART Moves, empowers parents through leadership, educational and social activities and individual support.

Economic opportunity programs help family members advance their educations and build their skills so they can secure stable jobs with increased earnings. The Family PLUS Web site is full of information to help our Club’s families.

We Need Parent Involvement! Get Involved!

Youth programs are most successful when parents, family members and youth development professionals work as partners to create a nurturing environment for children and teens.

Parent and family involvement, in particular, is important because it contributes to a young person’s school achievement and healthy development.

Here you can learn how to partner with the Club to create a more successful environment for your children.

The Club is a place for youth and families to learn and have fun together. We’ve got a special place waiting just for you. Come on in.

Family PLUS Events

Family PLUS Events occur at the club every other Friday night at 6 pm.

Family Movie Night

Families bring blankets and pillows and cuddle up as they watch a family-friendly movie and share a snack. This is a perfect opportunity to have a night out as a family without the economic burden.

Family Fun Night

Families come together to do an array of activities! These activities include things like: an egg drop contest, cake decorating, communication exercises, healthy eating and exercise!

These events give youth and their parents time together in a positive environment to work as a family and share new experiences.
