New Happenings at the Club!!!
There are new and exciting things happening at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Albany in the coming weeks.
Boys & Girls Clubs Week is from April 15-22 and we have some great activities and events being held!!!
The week is being kicked off with our 2nd Annual Kearney Cup Dodgeball Tournament on Sunday, April 15th.
If you have not registered your team, visit the event page here to register and get more information about the tournament.
Club Members will be doing arts & craft projects that illustrate the importance of our Club as well as writing poetry about the Club. The children will be making cards to family, friends, and staff who have made a difference in their lives while being a member of the Boys & Girls Clubs.
On Thursday, April 19th during Boys & Girls Clubs Week we will be having 2 very important events:
Teacher Appreciation Day from 3:30pm-5:30pm at the Delaware Ave Unit. We will be celebrating the many teachers who are or have impacted the lives of our Club members. Club members will be allowed to bring in their teachers to visit the Club and show them what they do when they come to the Club after school.
Go Tag, You’re It from 6:30pm-7:30pm at the Delaware Ave Unit Gym. We are trying to set a world record to see how many children can play tag at the same time around the country. This will be a fun and exciting event for Club members.
To wrap up Boys & Girls Clubs Week we will be celebrating Global Youth Service Day on Saturday April 21st.

Family Fun Day: Healthy Habits!!!

On Saturday, March 24th from 11-2pm we will be hosting Family PLUS Program’s FAMILY FUN DAY: Healthy Habits
Come join us at the the Delaware Ave Club for a day filled with Food, Fitness, & FUN!!!!!
We will be having information and demonstrations on healthy
eating, healthy living, and being active!!
99 Restaurants Raised $13,000 for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Albany!
Thank you to the amazing team at 99 Restaurants for raising funds to support after school programs at our local Boys & Girls Clubs during October’s Boys & Girls Clubs Fundraising Month. We are proud to be affiliated with such a dedicated group of individuals.
Collectively 99 Restaurants raised over $202,000 to benefit over 60 Clubs throughout the Northeast Region.
October is Boys & Girls Clubs Fundraising Month at the 99 Restaurants
October 1-31 guests will be able to make a donation to Boys & Girls Clubs by:

Ordering a special Boys & Girls Club Sandwich (Boneless Buffalo Chicken Sandwich) – $1 from every order will go to Boys & Girls Clubs

Adding $5 to your guest check and receive a Boys & Girls Club Ninety Nine commemorative bracelet

Add $1 to your guest check

Purchase one of the special Halloween entrees on the menu from October 29-31 with $1 from each entree going to a local Boys & Girls Club chapter

As an added bonus – kids eat free evey Sunday in October (with the purchase of an adult entree)
All proceeds raised at the restaurant locations in Colonie, Guilderland, Saratoga Springs and Queensbury will go directly to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Albany.
Lark Fest
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Albany will be at this year’s Lark Fest. We’ll have a table set up selling children’s made crafts and accepting donations! We hope to see you Saturday September 25 on Lark!
Save the Date!
Please save the date for Wednesday, November 10th for this year’s annual Red White and Chocolate event to be held at the Albany Egg. More details to come later!
Annual Alumni BGC Albany Golf Tournament
The 2010 Annual Alumni Boys and Girls Clubs of Albany Golf Tournament has been announced for July 26th at Briar Creek in Princetown, NY. As one of the best golf courses in the Capital Region, Briar Creek will be a great place to enjoy a great day of golf. Following the event will be a casual dinner with other alumni and friends of the Club.

Youth of the Year Announced

Sharonda Ginyard & Jighyatta Hoke
Congratulations to our Youth of the Year!
Sharonda Ginyard (left) and to runner-up Jighyatta Hoke (right) for outstanding commitment and service to The Boys & Girls Clubs of Albany. Sharonda will compete against 52 other candidates to be named 2010 New York State Youth of the Year, to be decided on May 25, 2010. Please join us in congratulating her and wishing her the best of luck in the State selection!
