After the overwhelming success of last years event, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Albany is proud to announce that Red White and Chocolate will be an annual event, this year occurring at the Century House in Latham, NY on Tuesday November 10th, 2009.

The New Lounge!
Thanks to the Leadership Tech Valley 2009 Class from the AC-Chamber, the Boys and Girls Clubs officially opened the new teen lounge, located off the gym. The official grand opening included a ribbon cutting and was celebrated with over 100 people (and some yummy cake).
The lounge will be a chill place for teens to hang out after school, offering a big screen HD TV, Wii, Internet access, and other fun! The project took hundreds of hours of time and was helped by many sponsors. Keyon Young, the Club’s Executive Director, was a member of the Leadership Tech Valley Class this year.

The Club’s Soapbox Derby is this Sunday, June 14. The Derby takes place 9am-6pm on Madison Avenue in Albany in front of the Museum. Come watch teams compete for glory as the champion!

Rick Conlee of Albany IT has been hard at work the last few weeks helping the Club network it’s office PCs, installing file and print servers, and making the member lab safer for kids to surf the web. Albany IT has generously donated over 50 hours of consulting time to help bring the Club into the 21st century! Thanks, it’s not always money we need! There are many ways businesses can help!

New Website
It’s official! Our new website launched today! While our old website served us well, our new “Web 2.0″ enabled website aims to increase communication between The Club and our parents, members, and donors. There are several new features, including a Calendar of Events, easy online donation, current news, and links to join our Facebook page and follow us on Twitter.
With the launch of our new website, we’re also launching a new Email Newsletter that should hit around June 1st! To sign up, just enter your email address in the box on the right side menu bar!
Sunmark 2009 Charity Golf Classic
The 2009 Sunmark Charity Golf Classic will be held Friday, August 7 2009 at Van Patten Golf Course in Clifton Park to benefit the Boys and Girls Clubs of Albany.
Registration is at 7:30AM with a 8:30AM shotgun start.
You can sign you and your foursome up online as well as become an individual or corporate sponsor right from Sunmark’s website!
Come join Sunmark at the 2009 Charity Golf Classic this fall and help keep the Albany Club “The Positive Place For Kids!’
The One Campaign has raised almost $11,000 – but we’re not close yet! We only have until the end of April to meet our goal for this year’s annual campaign. Please donate!
Soapbox Derby!
The Soapbox Derby will be held on June 13, 2009 on Madison Ave. by the museum in Albany. Call or stop by the Club at 518-462-5528 for details about this event.
While details are still being worked out, the 2009 BGC Golf Tournament will be taking place at Albany Municipal Golf Course on July 27, 2009. Stay tuned for more details as they will be posted here!
